The art historian Dr. Ralf-P. Seippel opened the gallery in Cologne in 1993. From that time until now, the focus has been on upcoming international contemporary art.

Since 1997 Seippel Gallery is also active in South Africa. We have curated and organized non-comercial exhibitions, artist-in-residence and exchange programmes.

Gallery Seippel, August House, Johannesburg is a spot for showing amongst south african art also international contemporary art.

In 2007 and 2008 we use the venue in close cooperation with ppp (private public partnership) project for workshops and seminars in the field of arts and culture.
